INSTALLATION

Choose the AppImage or DEB package.

System requirement: 64-bit Linux with a desktop environment, system tray support, and an available camera.

  1. Open the latest GitHub Release and choose the x64 AppImage or Debian package.
  2. For AppImage, mark the downloaded file as executable before launching it. For Debian-based systems, install the DEB with your normal package workflow.
  3. Allow camera access when prompted by your desktop or sandbox configuration.
  4. Use the tray icon to configure Lumi, reminder switches, and the monitoring schedule.
Preview-build notice: Linux desktop environments differ. Tray behavior, camera permissions, and window layering can vary; current packages are preview builds distributed directly through GitHub.

What stays on your computer

Camera frames are processed in memory with MediaPipe and discarded. The app stores a 30-day local timeline of small behavior events in IndexedDB. It does not upload photos or video, capture your screen, or require an account.

Reminders you can enable

  • A prolonged gap between detected complete blinks.
  • A 20-second distance break after 20 minutes of observed screen time.
  • A configurable sedentary interval between 1 and 600 minutes.
Not a medical device

Lumi supports screen habits. It does not diagnose digital eye strain or dry eye disease and does not replace professional eye care.
